Chilled Water Pipework Installation at London Wall

Overview

A prestigious commercial property on London Wall required a reliable chilled water supply for a newly specified kitchen air handling unit (AHU). The client needed the system installed with minimal disruption to occupants and within a tight one-week program. Our team was brought in to design and deliver a clean, robust pipework installation within an active building corridor.

Scope of Works

The project centered on the installation of a 42 mm chilled water flow and return system, complete with all supporting infrastructure. To achieve this, the existing suspended flooring in the designated corridor had to be carefully removed, creating a temporary service trench for the new pipework run.

Execution

Once the flooring panels were lifted, our engineers prepared the route and installed a stable unistrut framework to carry the new system. Euroclips were used to secure the pipework, creating a tidy, uniformly supported installation that ensures smooth operation and easy access for future maintenance.

With the support system in place, the team installed the 42 mm chilled flow and return lines, completing all joints, insulation, and quality checks in alignment with site standards. Coordination with the kitchen AHU team ensured seamless integration and optimal positioning for system tie-ins.

Challenges and Solutions

Corridor works always come with complications: foot traffic, space constraints, and the building’s daily rhythm all move like clockwork around the site. To avoid disruption, the team planned activities in short, controlled phases and ensured the work zone was always safe, clearly marked, and reinstated at the end of each shift.

The limited installation window required efficient sequencing and precise material preparation. By premeasuring and staging components, progress stayed agile and well ahead of schedule.
